Zakat is the third pillar of Islam, a mandatory charitable contribution of 2.5% of qualifying wealth to purify one's possessions and support those in need.
When to Pay?
Zakat is calculated annually on wealth held for one complete lunar year (Hawl) that exceeds the minimum threshold (Nisab).
Who Must Pay?
Every adult Muslim of sound mind whose wealth exceeds the Nisab threshold for a full lunar year must pay Zakat on their eligible assets.
What is Nisab?
Nisab is the minimum threshold of wealth (equivalent to 87.48g of gold or 612.36g of silver) that determines Zakat eligibility. Updated daily based on market prices.
